This project examines individual cyclone tracks for the Northern Hemisphere. Detection and tracking are conducted using version 12.2 of the cyclone detection and tracking algorithm developed by Crawford & Serreze (2016) applied to ERA-5 sea-level pressure data at a 3-hr temporal resolution and 50 km spatial resolution for the period 1979 – present (updated annually). Each CSV file contains information regarding the location, propagation, intensity, and size of the storm for each observation time. Whether a storm is a multi-center cyclone or interacting (splitting or merging) with other storm systems is also noted. To provide the most complete dataset possible, no subsetting of storms is applied, but for most studies, limiting tracks to only those exceeding some minimum longevity measure (e.g., lifespan ≥ 24 h or track length ≥ 1000 km) is recommended.
