Regulated companies are required by the Damage Prevention Regulations (DPRs) to immediately report all contraventions of the DPRs (e.g. failure to obtain consent, failure to comply with conditions of consent, failure to make a locate request). If the regulations are not followed when conducting an activity that causes a ground disturbance in the prescribed area, constructing a facility on, along, across or below a pipeline, or crossing a pipeline with vehicles or mobile equipment without consent, it is unauthorized, and illegal, unless otherwise authorized by the CER. Prior to November of 2020 contraventions of the Damage Prevention Regulations were referred to Unauthorized Activities.
